Frequently asked questions
Yes. Interest will start accruing on any overdue amount from the day after the due date.
Penalties may also apply if the amount remains unpaid.

If you haven’t received your assessment notice, check your QRO Online account or contact us.
It’s still your responsibility to ensure payment is made by the due date.
If you’ve agreed to receive online notices, you won’t receive your assessment notice by post.
To receive assessment notices in QRO Online instead of by post:
- Go to Manage details in QRO Online and select Land tax service address.
- Select Email address and enter your details.
- Go to Assessments in the side menu and select I agree.
We’ll send you an email when your notice is ready to download.
It’s also a good idea to:
- add @treasury.qld.gov.au to your email program’s safe senders list so that our emails to you don’t end up in your email junk folder
- set a reminder in your personal calendar to log in to QRO Online in July each year to check your details.
Yes. If your exemption is approved after you’ve paid, you may be eligible for a refund or reassessment.
Submit your exemption application as soon as possible.
Yes. You can pay off your land tax early at any time during your instalment arrangement.
Contact us if you plan to make additional repayments because this may alter the total interest charged.
If you are making payments under an extended payment option (EPO), you can make additional repayments can be made at any time.
